Two Hats

February 7, 2009
by John McLachlan

I wore two hats this week: one was my “arts admin” hat and the other my usual “design” hat. On the arts administration side, I worked on the statistics and final report for a funding program I coordinated for the BC Arts Council (via the BC Touring Council).Community Presenters Assistance is a program that offers funding to performing arts presenters in British Columbia. Each year, in June, community presenters can apply for funds to go toward the fees paid to performing artists. Most of my work with this happens in July and August as I go through all the applications and then send them on to a jury.

This potential organization could have some similarities in structure and functions as the Creative City Network of Canada which I worked with in 2001-2004.

On the design side, I helped AMSSA with their National Safe Harbour posters as they roll out a program in Alberta as well as preparing ads for another one of their programs, the Diversity Health Fair (see bus poster).

Busy week.
